What causes the killer Dengue? Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne and carried disease caused by the dengue virus. Every year, hundreds of people suffer from the disease and many of them end up their lives fighting with the fever. As it has been always said, prevention is better than cure. And to prevent, you must know what causes it. Bansal Group of Hospitals, based on previous cases and data from other reliable sources, noted down some findings regarding the causes of dengue fever. The deadly dengue virus is mainly of four types. Once a patient is affected by one of the viruses, he/she is immune from that particular virus but is still prone to the other three. In fact, if a patient is affected by another dengue virus after recovering from one of the viruses, the risk of the condition being severe increases. It might lead to hemorrhagic fever. When a mosquito bites a person infected with dengue virus and again bites a healthy person, the virus is carried off to the healthy person as well. The risk is more for people living in tropical areas. The symptoms and signs normally take 10-15 days to show up after the mosquito bite(s). It is therefore recommended to households to keep a check on mosquito population in their surroundings. If one person is affected in a household or neighborhood, the infection can be carried by a bunch of mosquitoes. To keep the mosquitoes away is the only way to escape dengue fever. If any signs and symptoms of dengue fever show up, you must immediately take medical help to prevent it from getting severe. At Bansal Group of Hospitals, our expert medical team takes immediate steps to detect the virus and to mitigate the effect of the virus. For more information about signs and symptoms, check out our next blog.

Sports Injuries and its Effective Treatment at Bansal Global Hospital Sports injuries are very common these days. This may be due to improper techniques, overuse or repetitive activities, problems with attitude, and posture of the body. Even minor injuries can affect the performance of the player hence a sports person should be closely monitored before allowed to play. Still injuries do manage to creep in. At Bansal Global Hospital we make sure that every injury is healed properly and no trauma faces negligence. Below are some of the most common injuries sportsperson might suffer from: LIGAMENT INJURIES Ligament injuries especially around knee and ankle are very common during contact sports such as football and basketball etc. if not treated properly it may re-occur and eventually cause impairment. To avoid this, proper treatment and rehabilitation is done at Bansal Global Hospital so that player can go back to the field as soon as possible. FRACTURES Fractures are the ultimate foe of a player. In high impact sports, fractures may lead to reduced strength of the limb and the person may not be able to play again. But if a good reduction is achieved and joint surfaces remain intact patient can play again. Bansal Global Hospital’s sports injury and rehabilitation team makes sure that the need of sportsperson is fulfilled and least damage is done to the body. MUSCLE RUPTURE AND RELATED INJURIES These kinds of injuries occur when muscles are overloaded beyond its limit which makes the tendon to break from its attachment. Another cause is repetitive stress. Usually conservative treatment is enough for such injuries but sometimes surgery is required to fix and set the muscle in proper position. An expertise in decision making and reviving the patient back to good health is required from the doctor you consult for the injury. JOINT DISLOCATIONS These kinds of injuries are common in throwing sports and require immediate attention. These injuries not only affect the joint but also the surrounding soft tissue structures get damaged. Manipulating the joint and relocation is done with care so that the surrounding structure is minimally stressed. NERVE INJURIES These injuries may be a result of fracture of may occur due to direct hit. Nerve reconstruction is a tricky process and precision of hands is required to perform such procedures. Other than this, rehabilitation plays a huge role in gaining back the strength. Bansal Global Hospital takes care of every minor need of patient so that he/she can give her best on the field. The most important thing to note is that sports injuries don’t show up immediately in many cases. How to prevent and first aid burns especially on Diwali A joyful festival like Diwali can turn into a nightmare if proper safety measures are not taken while playing with fire crackers. Avoiding firecrackers is the best thing you can do to avoid any such nightmares, and the next best thing will be to remain extremely precautious and prepared for any unforeseen accident. Some safety measures are listed below to make your Diwali happy and prosperous: Keep water nearby Whenever burning firecrackers, it is important to keep safety in mind. Keep a bucket of cold water nearby so that in case of fire it can be tackled quickly and a major fire incident can be avoided. You must also dip your hand or affected body area into the water immediately if it comes in contact with naked flames or hot cracker residue. Avoid wearing synthetic fabrics Synthetic fabrics start shrinking and stick to skin when they come in contact with fire and cause much damage. While with organic fabrics, the damage caused to skin is less as they don’t stick. Hence it is recommended to wear cotton or other natural fabrics while burning crackers. Apply cold water Put your hand in running cold water in case of burn and try to avoid formation of blisters. If blisters are formed, don’t touch them as it may cause infection. Seek immediate medical attention if the burn area is large. Visit a 24hrs open hospital if the burs are. Appropriate dressing of wound If you accidently get a burn it is important to get a proper dressing. Dressing should not be too tight as it may restrict blood circulation to the area. It should not be too loose either as it may displace or may cause infections. Dressing should also be changed time to time to avoid bacterial infections. Several kinds of dressing are available nowadays to improve the cosmetic appearance of the scar formed. It would be best to visit an Emergency hospital nearby instead of doing it yourself. Medications Usually anti septic creams are applied on burn area to avoid infections. Other than this if your burn wound gets infected your doctor may recommend you oral antibiotics along with anti septic creams. Keep ointments like Betadine handy to apply immediately in case of burns. Wish you a very happy, joyous, and healthy Diwali from the entire team of Bansal Global Hospital, a 24hrs open, emergency hospital in North Delhi. Why you should decrease the usage of crackers on Diwali The festive season is on with Diwali just a few days away! And it definitely is one of the best times of the year in Delhi. But definitely not for the Delhi air! Diwali should be more about giving, sharing, decorating, eating, and merry making. By burning crackers we are only harming our environment and ultimately ourselves. Also, we would be leaving a polluted and exhausted city for our future generations. Fire crackers not only waste your hard earned money but can also harm in the following ways: Causes lung problems Burning crackers release harmful gases like sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide which cause lung problems such as asthma, bronchitis, and excessive production of mucus. These gases are especially harmful for adolescent children and geriatric population. Causes noise pollution Every year during Diwali, noise pollution crosses the threshold. It may cause serious hearing problems and sleeping problems in infants. Noise also causes discomfort to animals and birds, that’s why loud crackers should be avoided as much as possible. Causes Eye irritation Harmful gases released by crackers stay in the environment for very long time. Suspended particles in the air can go in the eyes to cause eye problems like drying of eyes, excessive watering of eyes, redness and inflammation. Eye problems are usually irreversible and may dim the lights of your future. If you feel any irritation in your eyes due to direct contact with crackers, you must visit an emergency hospital immediately to avoid any unforeseen damage. It’s Unsafe A significant number of fire accidents take place around Diwali. Slight carelessness with crackers can cause loss of life and property. It may lead to serious burn injuries and leave a person disabled for the rest of his/her life. For the safety of yourself and your loved ones give up on crackers this Diwali, and burst your ego to create a better world instead! Diwali is a festival of lights, joy, and sharing happiness. Let’s not dim the beauty of it and celebrate a safe and cracker free Diwali. Lastly, but most importantly, please keep in consideration the patients in nearby hospitals while bursting loud crackers. A very happy and prosperous Diwali to all from the team of Bansal Global Hospital.
